What is Wall Rendering?

To render a property we apply a protective covering to the exterior walls either by hand or machine. It’s a tricky process which relies on experience and the skill of the renderer. General builders will often undertake rendering work without the necessary skills or tools to guarantee a perfect finished job.

Differing materials used in construction dictate that specific types of render materials should be used depending on the effect required.

Rendering offers weather protection and prevents damp. Whilst painting is time consuming, the majority of rendered walls only require repainting infrequently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here a selection of the questions that our rendering clients often ask …

Is rendering expensive?

When considering the overall cost of rendering a wall or property it’s important to consider the savings that may be realised over time.

The cost varies based on complexity and of course the size of the area to be rendered.

Do I need to paint my render?

By selecting the desired colour for your render it will not be necessary to paint unless you require a specific colour that is unavailable as a rendered coat.

Be aware that painting is messy, time consuming and consumes a lot of paint.

Does render prevent damp?

A render will protect your brickwork whilst strengthening the structure of your property. It will act as a raincoat and help to prevent water from penetrating the surface.

Cracks and fracturing over time can lead to moisture penetrating through the render. Even slight cracks in the render of a building can allow water to penetrate and become trapped between the render and brickwork.

This build-up of moisture will eventually soak into the brickwork/masonry creating a harmful damp problem that will only deteriorate over time.
